Last Saturday it was a blustery night, but we did manage to see 3 bands burning up some local stages with their music! This time around we were lucky enough to see 3 bands we had never seen before, and it was a lot of fun! The first place we went to was Main Street Bar (formerly Sodbusters) in Sylvania, OH.
The Rakeshakers are a brand new band, but it’s members are certainly not new to the stage. The band is made up of Toledo band veterans who have a distinct command over the music they’ve been playing for years. The music they play could be defined as “classic rock”, but that’s a pretty wide genre nowadays. Maybe it’s better to classify as 60-70’s guitar based classic rock and blues. They are a tight 4 piece band, and Luke on lead guitar played some incredibly tasty licks on their version of Joe Walsh’s “Turn to Stone” - which also displayed the bands ability to sing awesome 3 part harmony. In the first set the Chicago blues classic “I’m A Man”, which was incredibly tight.
Here’s some pictures we took of the Rakeshakers at Main Street Bar in Sylvania:

The Rakeshakers are such a new band that they don’t even have a MySpace profile or web site just yet, but keep your eyes on our Toledo Bands page. We’ll link them as soon as it’s up!
Next we headed over to Firehouse 47 in Ottawa Lake, MI to see Lifeline play. Lifeline is a local original band who released their first CD “Shallow Skies” in 2007, and they’re in the studio as we speak in Saline, MI laying down tracks for their next release. Being busy recording in the studio doesn’t stop them from playing local bars for their fans. A Lifeline show can contain their high energy original rock tunes like “Desperate”, in addition to 80’s classic rock favorites like “Everything About You”, or “Fight for Your Right”. You get it all in a Lifeline show, originals and covers.
Here’s some pics we took of Lifeline at Firehouse 47 on Nov 22:

Last we went to Joe’s Walnut in Petersburg, MI to see classic rock cover band “Buster Strange”. They’re motto is “Once you get a little strange you’re never the same…”, and how right they are! They’re a fun band to watch, the bass player Gary is often all over the stage and running around the bar while he plays - we caught him a couple of times cuttin’ the rug on the dance floor! Whether it’s the drummer Ed singing “Through the Glass” or Gary singing “Talk Dirty To Me”, the dance floor always has people on it.
Here’s some pics we took of Buster Strange at Joe’s Walnut on Nov 22:

Here’s Buster Strange playing “Talk Dirty To Me”:
