Partying with Toledo Bands Sat, Oct 4

Oct 06, 2008 I Toledo Live Music.

Well, last weekend was the first official Friday and Saturday of “Rocktober” - and we went out to see what kind of live and local entertainment we could find! It was a nice breezy fall night on Saturday, and there were plenty of bands to pick from playing all over Toledo and the local area. We picked some bands we hadn’t seen before, and started our trek at “The Haven” bar in Swanton, Ohio (right on Airport highway) to see Toledo band “Stirred not Shaken”. They are a classic and modern rock cover band from Maumee with a female lead singer. They have a pretty diverse set list, and you’ll hear a lot of songs you may not have heard in awhile (but love!). Melanie is on lead vocal, Jason plays lead guitar and keyboard, Timmy is on bass, Jesus is on drums, and Scott is on guitar. We had a great time watching their first set, here’s some pics and video from their show…

So, after that we went across town to Laskey and stopped in at The Blue Devil to see Toledo band “Running with Scissors”. They take out all the stops to put on a great live show that you can’t help but watch from even the furthest corner of the bar. Here’s some pics and videos of their live show…

Last, we stopped across the street at “The Dog House” bar on Laskey to catch Bethany & the Bottom Line (acoustic version). Bethany and Vince have been playing around Toledo for many years, it was a treat to catch them live. Vince has the coolest flying V acoustic guitar you’ll ever see, and the 2 of them put on a live show just as good as any full band I’ve ever seen. Here’s some pics and video of their show…

All in all we had a great time and saw 3 completely different local area bands in different bars. There’s always great live entertainment in the local Toledo area - get out there and support local live music!
